The next film in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise may be based on the classic 1993 game.
Rumors have surfaced about the title of the fourth film in the "Sonic the Hedgehog" series. According to insider Daniel Richtman, the film may be titled Sonic CD — after the 1993 game of the same name, Sonic the Hedgehog CD, which first touched on the theme of time travel.
This choice seems logical, as the post-credits scene of "Sonic the Hedgehog 3" introduced Amy Rose and Metal Sonic to viewers — characters who first appeared in Sonic CD.
Richtman also claims that the plot of the new installment will be related to a "dark future", but details are not yet available. Paramount Pictures has not officially confirmed either the title or the plot of the film, so this information should be taken with a grain of skepticism until official announcements.
The premiere of "Sonic 4 in the Cinema" is scheduled for March 19, 2027.
