Another iconic Nintendo series may be coming to the big screen in the coming years.
According to insider Daniel Richtman, Nintendo is preparing a Metroid film adaptation, which will be the company's next major project after The Super Mario Bros. Movie and the anticipated The Legend of Zelda.
Details about the studio, screenwriter, or director are not yet available. Nevertheless, the move seems quite logical — in recent years, Nintendo has been actively developing its own film direction. In addition to the Zelda movie, a Super Mario Galaxy movie, based on Super Mario Galaxy, is already in production. The film is scheduled to premiere on April 3, 2026.
As for the actress for the main role, Samus Aran, actress Brie Larson, known for her role in Captain Marvel, has repeatedly expressed her fondness for this character. She tried on Samus's costume for Halloween and later said that she would like to play the heroine if the Metroid franchise ever appears on the big screen.
