Netflix celebrated Stranger Things Day with the premiere of the first five minutes of the final season of the series. The video confirms the Duffer brothers' words that the final chapter will begin with a flashback to the day Will Byers disappeared, uniting the story and showing that everything that happened was part of Vecna's plan.
This scene directly links Vecna to the events of the first season for the first time and, according to the creators, will be the starting point for answering the main questions — what is the Upside Down and why was Will its first prisoner?
