Jak & Daxter was one of Sony's key projects on that platform. After the success of the first two installments, Naughty Dog decided to combine the best elements of the series and simplify the balance compared to the "second" game. The authors added more variety: they didn't limit themselves to firearms but introduced unusual mechanics and additional types of activity.
Jak 3 introduced races, which later became the basis for Jak X: Combat Racing, new locations, and the ability to return to familiar places destroyed by the events of Jak II. The result was a solid project that garnered good reviews but didn't become a sales hit — and that's precisely why waiting for Jak 4 with Sony's current approach to game development is unlikely.
According to Metacritic, Jak 3 has a rating of 84%. The game's sales reached 1.85 million copies, and the playthrough took about 12 hours. On PlayStation 2, the adventure became one of the symbols of the era.
