Counter-Strike 2 developers are back with a major update. The developers have introduced a new TrueView feature for viewing demo recordings, which will allow for a more accurate representation of what the player saw.

Previously, when viewing a demo recording, you saw the server-side picture of the game world without taking into account network delays. This could be confusing: shots that looked like misses hit the target, and vice versa. TrueView provides a more accurate representation of the game world as the player saw it, using client-side prediction.

The system has nuances:

  • By default, TrueView is disabled if the version of the game that the player is using to view the demo recording does not match the version used to record it.
  • Even if TrueView is enabled, the demo recording may still differ slightly from what the player saw. For example, damage effects will differ in timing when viewing a demo recording due to the peculiarities of pipelining in the operation of the central and graphics processors.
  • In addition to client-side prediction, TrueView also performs damage prediction against opponents for those observed players who used this feature at the time of recording.

Valve also announced the release of previously tested movement changes.

  • Improved prediction of player movement when colliding with other moving players.
  • Added prediction of the sound of turning the aiming mode on and off so that the player's playback is without delay.
