The economy is a key element of MMORPGs, and its disruption can cause chaos. This was confirmed in Throne and Liberty, where a mistake by a support employee turned into a disaster.

As in most MMOs, the game has guilds, raids, and an auction house. It was the center of the incident. It all started when one of the guilds contacted technical support due to the lack of a siege reward. To fix the problem, the employee decided to manually compensate for the losses, but made a mistake - 12 billion Lucent premium currency was credited to the players' accounts.

Instead of reporting this, the guild divided the amount among the members and began buying up rare items at auction, after which they resold them at inflated prices. This completely disrupted the balance of the economy.

The developers quickly noticed the problem and temporarily shut down the servers, canceling all suspicious transactions and blocking those responsible. But restoring the previous state took time - some items and currency are still being returned to their owners.

To mitigate the consequences, the studio issued compensation in the form of currency and items to all users. But some players claimed that they were unfairly affected: some had funds debited, even though they did not participate in the fraud.
