The Sonic the Hedgehog film adaptation remains one of Paramount's most successful franchises, and the studio, according to insider Daniel Richtman, has decided to increase the budget for the fourth film. He says that Paramount Pictures and SEGA will allocate significantly more funds to production than for the previous installments. This information aligns with earlier statements about a larger plot and epic visual effects.
The budget increase for each new Sonic movie has become a pattern. The first film in 2020 cost around $85-90 million, \"Sonic the Hedgehog 2\" cost $90-110 million, and the third installment cost approximately $122 million. Analysts expect \"Sonic the Hedgehog 4\" to surpass these figures and become the most expensive film in the series.
According to preliminary data, the plot of the fourth part will be inspired by the game Sonic CD and will introduce new characters - Amy Rose and Metal Sonic. Presumably, the story will touch on the theme of time travel.
The premiere of \"Sonic the Hedgehog 4\" is scheduled for March 19, 2027.
