The online presence in Dune: Awakening is rapidly declining, and the number of active users continues to decrease. Funcom's new game has faced a wave of criticism and alarming figures that cast doubt on its future.
Not long ago, the project was considered a prime candidate for success, but now it lags behind even Conan Exiles, which was released many years ago.
The 24-hour peak in Dune: Awakening did not exceed 8.6 thousand active players. For comparison, Conan Exiles simultaneously had over 9 thousand users. The older game's advantage has persisted for several weeks.
Reviews on Steam are also far from positive. Players complain about monotony after obtaining the ornithopter, a limited base-building system, and a lot of aimless grinding.
The developers are promising a series of updates to restore audience interest, but with such low online numbers and declining engagement, reversing the situation will be extremely difficult.
