In October, Krafton called itself the first fully AI-oriented gaming company.

South Korean company Krafton, known for PUBG, inZOI, and Subnautica, is introducing a voluntary employee departure program to optimize and automate workflows using AI.

According to Business Korea, the initiative started after record financial performance in the last quarter. Krafton also announced major investments — over 100 billion won (about $72 million) in each of the sectors: the Indian market and AI technologies.

A Krafton representative emphasized that they are not laying off anyone, but simply offering employees a choice.

The main goal is to support employees in independently choosing a direction for growth and new challenges both within and outside the company in the era of AI transformation. We will help team members autonomously decide whether to continue changes internally or expand externally.

CFO Bae Dong-geun, during a recent earnings report, announced a hiring freeze, except for divisions developing original intellectual property and AI specialists.
