ARMATUS — PlayStation's Answer to Returnal? New Project Unveiled at Xbox Partner Preview
Counterplay Games has revealed Armatus. The developers stated that it is the culmination of many years of work by a small, diverse, and passionate team.
The world of Armatus is a land after the end of everything. Reality is torn apart by an apocalypse, and demons have taken over the planet. In the catacombs of the Cathédrale de Trois, members of the Armatus order summon a mysterious Warrior, an immortal being in holy armor. The player's task is to lead them to salvation, but the question remains: do they deserve it?
Armatus is a bloody and fast-paced roguelite shooter. The Warrior will traverse the Purified Path through the distorted ruins of Paris. Each route is unique: new rooms, demon configurations, and random rewards. There is an arsenal of sacred weapons, celestial powers, blessings, and mutations that can be combined to create powerful builds. Death will not end the game but will strengthen the hero, preserving some of the progress.
Armatus will be released in 2026 on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and will be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch.
