Recently, fans of the shooter franchise announced the release of a large-scale project called TimeSplitters Rewind. This is not a "traditional remake" but rather a kind of collection.
The authors wanted to "convey the spirit of the three games as accurately as possible" and as a result created an independent game called TimeSplitters Rewind, which features content from different parts:
Over the past 10 years, almost 200 participants have invested a lot of time in this project — from a few to thousands of hours of development. Among them were both amateurs and developers from the AAA game industry. This is the largest amount of free content ever presented in a video game (without monetization elements), and its creation was not an easy task.
TimeSplitters Rewind is distributed for free through the official project website. This is an "early access" release, and this version includes:
- 28 maps
- Online and offline story mode
- 96 characters
- 41 weapon models
- Arcade: 20 game modes, 51 leagues, ability to play online and offline with bots
- New Team Elimination mode
- Multiplayer supports 10 players online
