Digital Extremes Reveals The Old Peace Release Date for Warframe and Hints at Next Chapter Announcement

Digital Extremes continues to experiment with genres and expand Warframe.

Digital Extremes has announced that The Old Peace update will be released on all platforms on December 10. It will be the next part of the main Warframe storyline and will introduce two new modes that can significantly diversify the gameplay.

The first mode, Descendia, is inspired by roguelikes. Players will go through the "Tower" with a weekly rotation of floors, difficulty, and rewards, gradually descending deeper and fighting side by side with the new triad of protoframes.

The second mode, Perita Rebellion, offers twelve-minute battles set in the past on the moon of Tau Perita, with goals and objectives that change every run.

According to creative director Rebecca Ford, the team sought to bring back the spirit of classic Warframe, but enrich it with aesthetics inspired by Dante’s Inferno and elements of "soulslikes."

From December 16 to January 6, the Blood of Perita temporary event will take place in the game. Players will be able to complete special missions, earn currency, and exchange it for unique rewards, including cosmetics and a title.

The update also introduces a new warframe — Uriel. He uses a hybrid weapon that combines a semi-automatic rifle and a bayonet, and is also able to summon demonic allies.

In addition to The Old Peace content, the update will refresh the game's visuals. The developers have improved the faces and hairstyles of Operators and Drifters and expanded customization options. Lighting, materials, and environment — especially on Perita — have received additional polishing. The interface and map have also been redesigned, which should simplify navigation.

In parallel, a closed beta test of Warframe on Android has started — almost two years after the release of the iOS version. You can still apply on the official project website, but, as before, access is limited for players from Russia.

Digital Extremes also hinted that the next chapter of Warframe will be shown very soon. The developers recommend watching The Game Awards 2025 ceremony, which will take place on December 11 — it is there that the presentation of the update after The Old Peace is expected.
