The top 10 best-selling games of the week consist almost entirely of Nintendo projects.
Famitsu shared sales statistics for physical copies of games in Japan for the period from November 17 to 23. Kirby Air Riders confidently topped the charts, starting with 195,594 copies sold on Nintendo Switch 2 in the first three days after release. This is the best result of the week and one of the strongest starts in the history of the franchise.
According to Famitsu, the release helped Nintendo further strengthen its leadership in weekly sales. Switch 2 sold 126,953 consoles, while PlayStation 5 sold 36,983 units, including the new digital version costing 55,000 yen, available only in Japan.
The top 10 almost entirely belongs to Nintendo. In second place is Mario Kart World with 67,068 copies sold, followed by both versions of Pokemon Legends: Z-A for Switch and Switch 2, which together exceeded the 50,000 copies mark. The top five is closed by Momotaro Dentetsu 2, which consistently shows high results on both Nintendo consoles.
Against this background, games for PlayStation look modest. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 on PS5 held the 16th position with 2,899 copies, while Ghost of Yotei, the new Sucker Punch exclusive, was only in 26th place, selling 1,891 copies per week. In total, 184,535 physical copies have been sold since the release in Japan — almost the entire volume came in the starting week in October, when the game topped the national chart.
Now interest in the project has noticeably decreased. Weekly sales have fallen below two thousand, and in the near future, Ghost of Yotei may completely leave the top 30. This is a worrying signal for Sony: the Japanese audience has once again focused on Nintendo consoles — 27 of the 30 best-selling games of the week are for Switch and Switch 2.
Nevertheless, globally, Ghost of Yotei shows a much more stable dynamic. According to Sony, global sales exceeded 3.3 million copies by the beginning of November — a figure comparable to Ghost of Tsushima for the same period. In the US, the game is in the top 10 best-selling releases of 2025.
