Netflix's Assassin's Creed Series Will Send Viewers to Ancient Rome — Informant
It seems that Netflix's adaptation of Assassin's Creed will touch on a historical period that has never appeared in the series before.
Netflix and Ubisoft seem to have decided on the direction of the future Assassin's Creed series. According to Nexus Point News, the events of the first season may unfold in Ancient Rome between 54 and 68 AD, and one of the key historical figures will be Emperor Nero.
The information looks plausible against the background of a Deadline report, according to which the project will begin filming in Italy in 2026 — and the main events of the season will unfold there. In addition, the era of Nero has not yet been presented in the video game series, which is consistent with the intention of Netflix and Ubisoft to tell a story with new characters that were not in the games.
There is no official confirmation of the setting yet, but it is already known that Toby Wallace — star of the film "The Bikeriders" and the series "Euphoria" — has been approved for one of the key roles.
According to the official Netflix description, the plot will focus on the confrontation between two secret factions: one seeking to subjugate humanity to control, and the other defending freedom of will. The platform describes the series as a "high-octane thriller" where the personal stories of the characters are intertwined with philosophical questions about power, faith, and truth.
The show is being supervised by Roberto Patino ("Westworld") and David Wiener ("Halo"). They serve as showrunners and executive producers along with Gerard Guillemot and Margaret Boykin from Ubisoft Film & Television.
