Development of the Splinter Cell remake at Ubisoft continues, and former game director of the franchise, David Grivel, has announced that he has returned to Ubisoft Toronto after working at EA on Battlefield 6 and freelancing.
Grivel wrote on LinkedIn:
I am very, VERY happy to announce that I am returning to Ubisoft Toronto as Game Director on the Splinter Cell Remake. It is an exceptional team and project for me.
Grivel worked on the remake from November 2021 to October 2022, then left for EA, and after a short stint at Ubisoft in 2024, he worked on an unannounced project. Now he has returned after several freelance projects.
Ubisoft has not yet revealed details about the remake, but according to rumors and leaks, the game looks "truly impressive." It was previously reported that the release is planned for the second half of 2026.
The last main game in the franchise, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, was released in 2013, and the series started in 2002, receiving several spin-offs on portable platforms.
