Helldivers, inspired by the 1997 film «Starship Troopers», is preparing for its own film adaptation.
The Helldivers film from Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions was announced earlier this year at Sony's press conference at CES 2025. Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Justin Lin will be in charge of the production. The director, who worked on several parts of the «Fast & Furious» series and the film «Star Trek Beyond», will also be one of the producers of the project through his company Perfect Storm Entertainment.
According to the publication, Lin is not an active player and plans to focus on the human aspect of the story in order to build a more dramatic and relevant interpretation of the universe, as well as lay the foundation for a future franchise.
The script was written by Gary Doberman, the author and co-author of the «It» dilogy, «Annabelle: Creation», «The Nun», as well as «Until Dawn».
Information about the cast and the expected premiere date has not yet been disclosed.
