Roskomnadzor has officially announced the blocking of Roblox in Russia. The regulator explained the decision by the fact that the platform contains a large amount of content that "may negatively affect the spiritual and moral development of children", as well as the promotion of extremism, violence and terrorism. Roblox's internal moderation system is unable to ensure the safety of materials appearing on the platform.
There is a large amount of inappropriate content in the game space that can negatively affect the spiritual and moral development of children, creates conditions and prerequisites for illegal actions. Such actions are committed, including in the so-called rooms and locations of the game, where users can become perpetrators of terrorist acts, attack a school, and participate in gambling, etc. Children in the game are subjected to sexual harassment, they are extorted for intimate photos, and are induced to lewd acts and violence.
Roskomnadzor notes that in 2025 it regularly sent a request to the Roblox administration to restrict access to prohibited materials.
