Bethesda boss and creator of the Elder Scrolls and Fallout series, Todd Howard, has named Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 as the best game of 2025.
Expedition 33 is truly impressive. I consider it a work of art in many respects.
He also mentioned Death Stranding 2 and Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
Howard's choice coincided with the release of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, which came out two days before Clair Obscur. Both games are available on Xbox Game Pass.
Expedition 33 has sold over 5 million copies and leads The Game Awards 2025 nominations with a record 12 nominations. The game has also become the largest third-party release of the year for Xbox Game Pass.
Todd Howard continues to work on The Elder Scrolls 6, but admits that the release is still far off.
