Players have discovered a surprisingly expensive candle that has appeared in the Rockstar store. The product, which "conveys the scent of Vice City," has fueled concerns that the company plans to monetize the game's anticipation.
The release of GTA VI has been postponed to November 19, 2026. However, the company has already started selling official merchandise. In early December, the first item appeared in the store — the "Vice Candle."
The candle was created in collaboration with Joya Studio, costs $59.99, and is presented in matte glass. The description lists notes of: California lemon, mate, tuberose, and smoked patchouli. The site does not mention GTA VI, but the product is clearly associated with Vice City. At the same time, a "Liberty Candle" of the same price was released, both included in the new line of clothing and accessories.
The price quickly became a topic on Reddit. "All their merch is so expensive," one user wrote. Another asked: "What level of greed is this!?" Users also expressed concerns about the cost of the game itself: "If they charge so much for a candle, it's scary to imagine the price of the game."
According to Candle Culture, the average price of a "luxury" 8-ounce candle is about $64, but the "Vice Candle" weighs only 6.5 ounces, while candles of a similar size cost about $52. Even similar Joya candles are cheaper: Katz’s Deli (6.9 ounces, 60 hours) — $28, and a candle for Red Dead Redemption 2 from Joya sells for $49.99.
