The free-to-play mobile Age of Empires with gacha and microtransactions will try to win over the audience on PC.
An announcement has appeared on the official Age of Empires website, revealing the release date for Age of Empires Mobile: PC Edition - the release is scheduled for early 2026. The game has already gathered a considerable audience on Android and iOS and is now heading to the series' native haven - on PC.
The PC version will appear on Steam and the Microsoft Store. The developers promise improved graphics, an updated interface, and support for classic keyboard and mouse controls. Crossplay and progress synchronization have also been confirmed - players will be able to freely switch between smartphone and computer without losing progress.
The question remains whether the free-to-play model, built according to mobile standards - with timers, progress restrictions, and gacha banners with historical figures - will be able to interest the PC audience, which is accustomed to a completely different Age of Empires format.
