Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis Compared to the 1996 Original

The Game Awards featured the first trailer for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, and now a comparison of the remake with the 1996 version has been published online. The developers report that they are preparing not a return to the origins, but a rethinking of the classic game.

In Legacy of Atlantis, the player controls Lara Croft and explores familiar locations: the Peruvian jungle, the ruins of Greece, the deserts of Egypt, and an island in the Mediterranean Sea. Along the way, there are traps, enemies, and a race for the Scion artifact - its fragments must be collected to understand its nature. The authors emphasize exploration, puzzles, and acrobatics.

The game is being created for the 30th anniversary of Tomb Raider, which will be celebrated in 2026. Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog strive to preserve the essence of the original, but present it in a modern form. A comparison with the 1996 game demonstrates significant changes: new character models, updated Lara animations, detailed environments, and modern lighting. This is a full-fledged remake with a visual update of all key elements.
