Some players have been waiting for the next numbered installment of Devil May Cry and are starting to build theories in the spirit of the community that has been waiting for Half-Life 3 for decades.
Netflix has officially announced the premiere date for the second season of Adi Shankar's Devil May Cry anime. The continuation of the show, based on the cult Capcom action series, will be released on May 12, 2026.
The second season will focus on the confrontation between Dante and Vergil, unfolding against the backdrop of a full-scale war between the world of humans and demons. Johnny Yong Bosch, who voices Dante, Robbie Daymond as Vergil, and Scout Taylor-Compton, who once again plays Mary Ann Arkham, better known as Lady, will return to their roles.
However, the discussion of the release date quickly went beyond the series itself. Reddit users noticed a curious coincidence: the second season is released on May 12, and if you symbolically "divide" this date by the season number, you get May 6 - May 6. In English, this can be read as a hint of Devil May Cry 6, which fans have been waiting for for many years.
However, it is too early to take such theories seriously. Back in June 2025, when Capcom announced that total sales of the Devil May Cry series had exceeded 10 million copies, Johnny Yong Bosch reacted to the news with the question: "Is that enough to start working on DMC6?"
Given that the actor voiced Nero in the last two games and Dante in the animated adaptation, his words are more likely to hint at the absence of an active development phase or, at best, its earliest stage.
