Some connections in the "Simulated Universe: Swarm Disaster" mode previously remained weak, but with the release of update 3.8 on December 17, the situation will change.
HoYoverse has announced a major update to the "Simulated Universe: Swarm Disaster" mode in Honkai: Star Rail. Improvements will begin with the release of version 3.8 and continue in patch 4.0. The developers focused on balance, ease of passage, and content expansion.
Key changes affected the overall mechanics of the mode. An error was fixed that caused periodic damage to interact incorrectly with "lucky hit". In addition, the direct damage dealt by connections was increased, which now smoothly scales as you progress through the nodes. These edits affect the connections of the Express Crew, Belobog, Xianzhou, Wolf Hunt, Break, Group Attacks, Energy, and Periodic Damage, increasing their effectiveness in long and complex matches.
A separate block of changes is dedicated to characters. The base speed of heroes now depends on their cost, which strengthens both speed damage dealers and high-rarity characters. Healers and supports also received significant buffs. In parallel, the developers strengthened the directions of connections and their corresponding characters — including bonus attacks, group attacks, break, debuffs, "Cosmic Researchers" and "Wolf Hunt". As a result, the effectiveness of a number of heroes who had previously lost relevance at high levels of difficulty has increased.
Additional changes affected equipment, nodes, investment environments and strategies. Opponents in encounter nodes became weaker, rewards at high levels of difficulty increased, and economic effects received more lenient conditions.
Finally, HoYoverse confirmed that in version 4.0, "Simulated Universe: Swarm Disaster" will receive a full expansion. New employees, investment environments and strategies will be added to the mode, and some characters will move to the status of expert consultants with unique effects.
The developers emphasize that work on the mode will continue in the future. "Simulated Universe: Swarm Disaster" is conceived as a long-term and constantly evolving element of Honkai: Star Rail and, like the "Virtual Universe", will expand as the game develops.
The Honkai: Star Rail 3.8 update will be released on December 17.
