Players have long suspected they are being watched.
The Arc Raiders community has a theory that matchmaking takes into account the "level of toxicity."
Users have noted that aggressive PvP enthusiasts eventually start getting matched with people who behave similarly, while PvE supporters have noticeably calmer matches.
Recently, this theory received indirect confirmation. In a conversation with PC Gamer, Embark Studios Art Director Robert Sammelin shared:
[The matchmaking system] is quite complex, so we analyze user behavior and match participants accordingly.
Previously, blogger Domi conducted an experiment with the matchmaking system in Arc Raiders.
He compared PvE and PvP accounts — noting a radical difference in the behavior of players encountered when playing with these accounts.
