Players are getting acquainted with the Divinity universe.
The announcement of a new game in the Divinity universe by Larian Studios has significantly impacted player activity and sparked increased interest in previous installments of the series. Shortly after the trailer was shown at The Game Awards, Divinity: Original Sin 2 substantially increased in online activity and returned to the Steam charts.
Before the announcement, the average daily online presence of Divinity: Original Sin 2 was about 4,000 people. After the trailer's release, the figure exceeded 10,000, and the daily peak reached 10,898 players. Against this backdrop, the game re-entered the top 250 most popular Steam projects, rising to 228th position at the time of publication.
The surge of interest also affected the original Divinity: Original Sin. Its daily peak increased from 200–400 players to over 2,000. Many users decided to explore the series from the first part or return to it while awaiting the new game.
There is plenty of time to immerse oneself in the universe. Larian Studios has only presented a cinematic teaser and has not announced a release date, emphasizing that it is not yet ready to share details. It is expected that at least three years will pass before the release: only two years have passed since the full version of Baldur’s Gate 3 was released, and large-scale RPGs require significant development times.
At the same time, the studio has already confirmed that the future Divinity will be Larian's most ambitious project — even larger than Baldur’s Gate 3, which took six years to create, not counting post-release support.
