Deltarune Chapter 5 development is progressing faster than expected.
Toby Fox, the creator of Undertale and Deltarune, has shared fresh details on the development progress of the fifth chapter of his role-playing game. In a recent issue of the official newsletter, he stated that progress is faster than expected, and Deltarune Chapter 5 could be released in just a few months.
Fox noted that the team has almost completed the key stages of production and will soon move on to the final stages — debugging and localization. It is expected that in a few months, most of the developers will switch their attention to the sixth chapter.
«If I had to give a realistic estimate, I think from where we are now, it will still take a few months until it's released. Which sounds crazy, especially considering only 6 months ago you only had Chapters 1+2, but in a few months most of the team will probably already be focused on Chapter 6…»
The fifth chapter will be the finale of the current story arc, uniting the events of the previous parts. That's why many fans feared that work on it could drag on for years, as has happened before.
As a reminder, three years passed between the releases of the first two chapters — from 2018 to 2021, and the third and fourth chapters were released four years later, in 2025. Initially, Fox assumed that the release of the fifth chapter would not take place until the end of 2026, but now the deadlines look much more optimistic.
