The legendary game designer once again drew attention to the latest film release.
Hideo Kojima shared his impressions of the film "Avatar: The Seed Bearer," which he watched the day before. In his post on platform X, the game designer stated that James Cameron's film demonstrates "an absolute lack of compromise" in creating the universe down to the smallest detail and called the film "magnificent."
According to Kojima, "Avatar" reminded him of the true philosophy of creativity. He noted that it is often said that "God is in the details, but seeing this idea embodied in the process itself is rare."
The game designer emphasized that for four decades he has been connecting the entertainment industry and art with the development of digital technologies and sees himself as a creator of the "digital side." He also recalled that the creation of Death Stranding used technologies developed for the first "Avatar."
Kojima also touched upon the long-standing debate about digital and analog cinema. He noted that recently, viewers have increasingly praised films shot without CG and visual effects, and digital works are sometimes devalued, claiming that "anyone can make digital cinema." According to Kojima, this is a misconception.
"Digital works are also created by people. Countless actors, artists, and programmers put their thoughts and passion into them, inspiring the work and filling it with life. Today, this film reminded me what true 'pride' and 'courage' are with which we move into the future. It once again gave me the confidence and inspiration to continue searching for new things using digital technologies. Thank you, James Cameron."
"Avatar: The Seed Bearer" was released on December 19. The film received 68% positive reviews from critics on Rotten Tomatoes — they were impressed by the visual component, but disappointed by the internal content. Viewers were much more благосклонны and gave the film 91% approval.
