Amid rising console and Game Pass subscription prices, Xbox owners have little to rejoice about in 2025. An exception is Fortnite: the Fortnite Crew subscription is now part of Game Pass. Players quickly found a way to get 1000 V-Bucks for just $1.
Fortnite Crew is a subscription service for the battle royale game. For a monthly fee, it offers cosmetic items and V-Bucks for the in-game store. Now, all Game Pass subscribers get access to Crew. Moreover, even existing Fortnite Crew subscribers receive an additional 1000 V-Bucks when subscribing to Game Pass.
This is facilitated by the current Xbox promotion: the first month of Game Pass Ultimate is available for $1. With a standard price of $29.99 per month, the offer allows you to subscribe for a minimal amount.
The loophole is that the bonus 1000 V-Bucks are credited regardless of the existing Fortnite Crew subscription. As a result, players subscribe to Game Pass Ultimate for $1, receive the currency, and immediately cancel the subscription.
After cancellation, access to Game Pass Ultimate remains for a month, but most users are only interested in the in-game currency. For comparison, 1000 V-Bucks usually cost $8.99, so the offer is almost 90% cheaper than the standard price.
Formally, this is not a bug, but a feature of the terms. The loophole could be closed by limiting the bonus to only new Fortnite Crew subscribers, rather than all Game Pass users.
