Nintendo has not yet revealed plans for the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda series, but fans are already demonstrating what a modern remake of Ocarina of Time could look like.

YouTuber Taylor C. Ellis presented a fan version of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, created on Unreal Engine 5. The project is available for download as a free demo. The author recreated Kakariko Village with high detail, preserving the atmosphere of the original and adapting it to modern graphics.

The project serves more as a demonstration of technology than a full-fledged game. In the demo, you can freely explore the location, but there are no combat episodes for Link.

Ellis's work stands out for its rejection of the cold photorealism characteristic of many projects on Unreal Engine 5. The author retained the fairy-tale style of Ocarina of Time, showing how organically this world can look on a modern device.

For fans of the series, this is a prelude to possible announcements in 2026 — a new numbered installment, the first trailer for the film adaptation, as well as potential remasters or ports of classic games on Switch 2. Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD are among the most likely candidates.
