VR Remake Crowdfunding of "Strip Mahjong" Super Real Mahjong Venus Returns Exceeds All Expectations. Release Postponed Due to Success
Japanese publisher ILLUMINATION announced that Super Real Mahjong Venus Returns has been postponed from spring to summer 2026 due to an "overly successful" crowdfunding campaign.
The project raised over 1690% of its initial goal, which motivated the developers to add fully voiced text, an improved ending, and other features that were not originally planned.
The developers commented:
This is a rare opportunity, and we wanted to make the game without compromises.
The Super Real Mahjong series is considered a classic of "strip mahjong" in Japan. The new VR edition will bring back the PV characters - Mizuki Tohno, Aya Fujiwara, and Akira Hayasaka, as well as Shoko from Super Real Mahjong PII. The traditional game format will be preserved, but now the strip can be seen in VR. A non-VR mode is also provided. The game does not contain explicit sexual content.
