Modder Bohdan "Zodjeks" Vasilenko recently presented a development diary for the Unreal Far Cry project. It is positioned as a "fan remake of the original Far Cry 1." The modern Unreal Engine 5 is used for the work.
The current version implements the collection of equipment and the throwing of grenades and stones; melee weapons are available (a knife is currently used).
A stamina system is presented — the supply is consumed when running and jumping, and when it reaches zero, the protagonist will temporarily lose these abilities until part of the stamina is restored.
Some other developments:
- Added "animation" for drawing each weapon.
- The system for displaying text prompts when interacting with objects works
- Implemented the logic of the binoculars, compass and flashlight.
- A system has been created for interacting with various objects in the game (for example, with doors).
Zodjeks plans to continue working on Unreal Far Cry, improving current elements and adding new ones.
