In an interview, Hashino, the creator of Persona and Metaphor, said that his involvement in the Persona series has decreased since the release of Persona 5 Royal.
He emphasized that Studio Zero, which he founded at Atlus, is responsible for Metaphor, while other studios continue to work on Shin Megami Tensei and Persona. Hashino stated that Studio Zero is focused on Metaphor. This does not confirm a sequel, but his words can be interpreted as a hint at a continuation. Hashino previously said that he wanted to make Metaphor a flagship series, but there were no "concrete plans" at the time.
It is expected that an improved version of Metaphor: ReFantazio will be released in the future, as well as a possible sequel to the game, which will eliminate some shortcomings and reach a new level.
