New Chinese slasher Phantom Blade Zero is already on the wishlist of a million players
Developer S-Game announced that the action game Phantom Blade Zero, within 15 days of opening its store pages on December 12, 2025, has been added to wishlists over a million times.
The game will recreate a fictional world based on Chinese Wuxia culture, but, as director Liang noted, the project was also influenced by other cultures, his education in the United States, and his love for Japanese anime. The result is a unique "KungfuPunk" style designed for an international audience.
Sources of inspiration include Chinese Wuxia novels, Hong Kong films from the 70s-90s, Japanese manga Vagabond, Berserk, and Claymore, as well as games Ninja Gaiden, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and Nioh.
Phantom Blade Zero will offer gradual character development, exciting boss fights, and secret dungeon battles. Liang emphasized:
We adhere to a traditional approach to design, avoiding automated mass production.
The release on PlayStation 5 and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store) is scheduled for September 9, 2026.
