Tekken series creator Katsuhiro Harada is officially leaving the franchise after 30 years of work. Under his leadership, more than 61 million copies of the series' games have been sold on various platforms.
Harada wrote on X:
I am no longer the developer / creator of the TEKKEN series. Harada_TEKKEN is dead.
Bandai Namco promises to continue supporting Tekken 8 and the franchise as a whole. The game's team noted that fans can expect "more fights and more updates" in 2026.
Harada's role will be taken over by a joint team of two people: Tekken 8 director Kohei Ikeda and producer Michael Murray. It is not yet known whether there will be a new main game or a spin-off, but players will soon receive additional content for Tekken 8 through season passes.
Harada may still appear at the Tekken World Tour event, which will take place from January 29 to February 1, 2026.
