A new device is coming to the market that may interest fans of high-speed racing. We are talking about Swift Drive.
Swift Drive from GameSir is a controller for players who don't have room for a full steering wheel setup or don't want to spend large sums. Instead of a regular gamepad, a hybrid of a pad and a steering wheel in a compact format is offered.
The key feature of Swift Drive is a miniature steering wheel in the center of the controller. It is connected to what the manufacturer calls "the world's smallest direct drive motor." It is responsible for the resistance, vibrations, and response to the car's behavior, familiar from expensive steering wheels. GameSir uses Hall Effect sensors with high accuracy — up to 65 thousand levels of resolution. The rotation angle is adjustable from 30 to 1080 degrees, and the steering wheel itself can be detached and replaced.
Hall sensors are also used in analog sticks with buttons. The triggers received separate haptic motors that simulate ABS operation and wheel slippage. The controller works via a 2.4 GHz wireless connection, and the battery life is from 20 to 30 hours even with RGB backlighting and haptics.
