Lords of the Fallen II Creator Denies Elden Ring: Nightreign Plagiarism Accusations
After the presentation of a new enemy from Lords of the Fallen II, fans discovered a striking resemblance to one of the characters from the FromSoftware project. The head of CI Games had to explain.
The new character in Lords of the Fallen II has become the subject of another discussion. After the image was published on the game's official social networks, users noticed a suspicious resemblance between the Crescent Host-warriors in gray armor with a blue cloak-and Wylder from Elden Ring: Nightreign. The visual parallels turned out to be so obvious that accusations of plagiarism quickly appeared online.
Wylder, the central character of Nightreign, has become a symbol of the game and is actively used in its promotional campaign. In various promotional materials, he is depicted with a sword over his shoulder-almost in the same pose as the new enemy from Lords of the Fallen II. It is not surprising that the reaction was immediate: some felt that Hexworks, CI Games' internal studio, was "too inspired" by FromSoftware, while others stated that the similarity went beyond what was acceptable.
CI Games CEO Marek Tyminski was quick to respond to the allegations and published a series of messages stating that they were "100% false." He cited specific dates: the Crescent Host armor, he said, was finalized on July 17, 2024-five months before the Nightreign announcement. By the fall of that year, the character model had already been implemented in the game engine. Tyminski also stressed that CI Games "does not copy other studios" and "deeply respects" FromSoftware's work.
