Comic Book Author Talks About Famke Janssen's Return as Jean Grey in \"Avengers: Secret Wars\"
Chris Claremont, author of the X-Men comics, is once again revealing Marvel secrets ahead of schedule.
In the upcoming crossover \"Avengers: Secret Wars,\" Marvel is bringing together star veterans, including actors from the Fox-era X-Men films. According to legendary writer Chris Claremont, whose comics formed the basis of the original trilogy, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, and other actors will be joined by Famke Janssen, reprising her role as Jean Grey.
Claremont revealed this in the Power of X-Men podcast, commenting on the recent \"Secret Wars\" teaser featuring Professor X, Magneto, and Cyclops."The wonderful thing about this is that they're bringing back the original cast, including Famke," the writer stated. This phrase immediately sparked a flurry of discussions online, with fans concluding that Claremont had effectively confirmed the actress's participation, who had previously claimed that Marvel had "never contacted" her after \"X-Men: Days of Future Past.\"
However, Claremont didn't stop at just one revelation. In the same conversation, he stated that Elizabeth Olsen would appear as Scarlet Witch and that Psylocke, a character not previously seen in the cinematic universe, would also be in the film.
This isn't the first time Claremont has shared information ahead of time. Back in April 2025, speaking at the Huntsville Pop Culture Expo, he hinted at Chris Evans' return-and Marvel officially confirmed it just a few weeks ago. Therefore, fans believe that the writer's current words may also be true, especially if he continues to advise the studio on projects related to the X-Men.
Principal photography for \"Avengers: Secret Wars\" wrapped up at the end of last year, but Marvel is planning an additional shooting block in the spring. The film's world premiere is scheduled for December 18, 2026.
