Steam Concurrent Online Users Exceed 42 Million for the First Time in the Service's 20-Year History

Steam continues to gain momentum in 2026.

In early January 2026, during the Winter Sale, Steam set a new online record. At that time, the peak reached 41.8 million concurrent users.

This weekend, the Valve service set another record — the online count exceeded the 42 million players mark for the first time.

According to SteamDB data, at the time the record of 42,042,778 users was set, 13,119,473 accounts had the "in-game" status.

For comparison, the online count in January 2025 was at the level of 37 - 38 million.
