Next-generation AI upscaling will allow the image quality on PS5 Pro to approach that of competitors' solutions, including the future FSR 4 from AMD.
According to insider @Gust_FAN on X, PSSR 2.0will improve smoothness: games that were stuck at 70-80 FPS will run faster and more stable. Older games will receive advanced upscaling, which will make them look better on 4K and 8K screens. New algorithms reduce the number of artifacts while preserving detail.
Direct implementation of frame generation technology in PSSR 2.0 is not expected, but developers will be able to use FSR 3 to increase FPS. New diagnostic tools will help optimize games for the updated architecture.
Sony has not yet announced an exact release date, but the industry expects a technical presentation from Mark Cerny soon.
