Ubisoft Unstoppable: Company Laid Off More Than 125 People in First Two Weeks of 2026
Ubisoft continues to optimize its staff: in the first two weeks of 2026, about 126 developers have already been affected: the closure of Ubisoft Halifax (71 people), layoffs at Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft Stockholm (55 roles) and ongoing reductions at Ubisoft Abu Dhabi.
According to a Game Developer report, layoffs at Ubisoft Abu Dhabi began in December 2025 and continue in 2026. Several employees confirmed this on their pages in the business social network.
The Abu Dhabi studio, opened in 2011, has about 60 employees and is positioned as "Ubisoft's regional game development hub". It is responsible for mobile projects such as Growtopia and CSI: Hidden Crimes.
Ubisoft explains the reductions as "large-scale measures to optimize operations, improve efficiency and reduce costs".
