First Look at Sophie Turner as Lara Croft Revealed as Tomb Raider Series Begins Filming
Amazon has announced the start of filming for the Tomb Raider series and released the first official image of Sophie Turner as Lara Croft. The photo marks the first public look at the upcoming project.
The series is being created for Prime Video in collaboration with Story Kitchen and Crystal Dynamics, the developers of the original game franchise. Production is overseen by Amazon MGM Studios, Crystal Dynamics, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Jenny Robins.
Waller-Bridge is the writer, executive producer, and showrunner of the project, with Chad Hodge as her co-writer. Jonathan van Tulleken is appointed as director and executive producer.
The actress previously mentioned that in preparation for the role, she is not only actively training but also playing Tomb Raider and reading comics from the series' universe. At the same time, Turner is consciously avoiding the adaptations with Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander in order not to borrow someone else's interpretation of the character.
The series premiere date has not yet been announced.
