Subway Surfers sequel coming in February - the sequel is called Subway Surfers City
Developers from SYBO have opened pre-registration and showed a cinematic trailer.
The iconic mobile runner Subway Surfers will get a full-fledged sequel. The sequel, called Subway Surfers City, will be released on February 26 on iOS and Android.
The new game from SYBO studio departs from the "world tour" format, in which Subway Surfers has been traveling around different countries and cultures for years. Instead, Subway Surfers City transports players to Subway City, a fictional metropolis that will become the central hub.
At the start, four districts of the city will be available: "Docks", "South Line", "Sunrise Boulevard" and "Delorean Park". In the future, the game will be developed according to a seasonal model: each new season will add districts, characters, events and cosmetic items.
The sequel also features new mechanics that expand the possibilities during runs, and several starting modes. One of them is a classic endless runner. The second is a "city tour" with quests and exploration of districts. The third mode is "events": time-limited themed races and activities.
Subway Surfers City will be distributed according to a free-to-play model with in-game purchases and support for a full offline mode. At the same time, the developers clarify that some functions may not be available without an Internet connection.
Users can already pre-register in digital stores Google Play and App Store.
The original Subway Surfers was released in 2012 and has since surpassed 4.5 billion downloads, remaining the most downloaded game in the history of mobile gaming. According to the developers, the project consistently retains from 100 to 150 million active users per month.
