Best Indie Game of 2023 Sea of Stars Coming to Smartphones This Spring
The highly-rated Canadian JRPG will arrive on iOS and Android in April.
The turn-based RPG Sea of Stars, recognized as the best indie game of 2023 at The Game Awards and Golden Joystick Awards, is preparing for release on mobile devices. The project will be released on iOS and Android on April 7 — the game pages are already available in the App Store and Google Play.
The mobile version is being prepared by the Playdigious studio. This is a premium release with a price tag of $8.99. The game will support touch controls and gamepads, and will also receive Russian localization.
Initially, Sea of Stars was released on August 29, 2023 on PC and consoles and was warmly received by both critics and players. The project is inspired by classic JRPGs of the 1990s, primarily Chrono Trigger. Several musical themes for the game were written by Yasunori Mitsuda, the composer of the original Chrono Trigger.
Sea of Stars offers a turn-based combat system with reactive elements, a party system with several heroes, world exploration with puzzles and platforming elements, as well as rich side content — from searching for secrets to cooking, fishing and a board game. The basic version is designed for more than 50 hours of gameplay. At the same time, the appearance of the Throes of the Watchmaker add-on, previously released on PC and consoles, for the mobile version has not yet been officially confirmed.
