The Hollywood Reporter published a large interview with George R. R. Martin, which shed light on the future of the television universe of "A Song of Ice and Fire". In addition to discussions about the upcoming prequel "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" and the difficult work on "The Winds of Winter", the material mentions another possible HBO project — a sequel to "Game of Thrones".
According to THR, after the cancellation of the series about Jon Snow, the studio decided not to abandon the idea of continuing the main story and focused on Arya Stark. According to the authors' idea, the heroine who went "west of Westeros" could become the central figure of the new project. The script is in the early stages of development, and Quoc Dang Tran, one of the creators of the series "Drops of God", has been involved in the work.
Unlike the version with Jon Snow, which was supposed to be a dark story of a broken hero living in isolation in the North, the new project, according to media reports, may move towards an adventure saga — with sea voyages, explorations of uncharted lands and adventures.
If the series gets the "green light", it will be the first full-fledged sequel to "Game of Thrones". All previous franchise projects, including those not yet released, remained prequels and only expanded the mythology of the world, without continuing the events after the finale of the original show.
