Paramount Wants Jim Carrey Back in "Sonic the Hedgehog 4" - Insider
It seems Jim Carrey isn't done with the role of Doctor Robotnik yet.
According to insider Daniel Richtman, Paramount Pictures is in talks with Jim Carrey to return in "Sonic the Hedgehog 4".
The new installment will be a sequel to "Sonic the Hedgehog 3," where Carrey played a dual role and once again became one of the main highlights of the film. Rumors suggest that the plot of the fourth part will revolve around time travel and motifs from Sonic CD, which theoretically allows for an organic explanation for the return of Doctor Robotnik.
If this information is confirmed and Jim Carrey does return to the role, it will be the second time in the history of the film franchise that Doctor Robotnik's storyline formally concludes, the actor states that he is "done" with the character, and then still returns "one last time."
The premiere of "Sonic the Hedgehog 4" is scheduled for March 19, 2027. In addition, Paramount has another feature-length project based on the franchise in development — its release is planned for December 22, 2028, but details about it are not yet available.
