In the gaming community, there is an opinion that BioWare made a mistake by undertaking the creation of the game-service Anthem. However, Dragon Age creator Mark Darrah, who worked at the studio for many years, thinks otherwise.

During a recent interview dedicated to the closure of Anthem, he talked about how during the release many people "crawled out" to say: "See, we told you so" and "BioWare should never have made Anthem because they are masters of single-player RPGs."

My opinion is that BioWare has always changed. By the same logic, we shouldn't have made Neverwinter Nights at all, because we were masters of 2D RPGs. We shouldn't have made Mass Effect, because we were making cRPGs, not action RPGs. So for me, this argument is not very weighty. Studios evolve and try new things. Was Anthem too big of a leap? Yes, for sure. But could you have foreseen it then? I don't know. I'm not sure I could have.

Mark Darrah also said that "it's easy to blame Electronic Arts for everything, and of course, they deserve a lot of blame for Anthem, but it's not entirely their fault."
