Tragedy in the USA: 11-Year-Old Boy Shoots Adoptive Father Over Nintendo Switch
In Pennsylvania, an 11-year-old child was arrested and charged with the murder of his adoptive father after a conflict over the confiscation of a Nintendo Switch. The incident occurred at night in the family's home in Perry County. According to the investigation, the 42-year-old father punished his son by taking away the console and sending him to bed.
Later, the boy tried to open a drawer or safe to get the console back and found a weapon there, legally owned by his father. According to court documents, he loaded the gun and shot his father in the head while he was sleeping. The mother, awakened by a loud shot and the smell of gunpowder, found her husband in a pool of blood. Later, the child confessed to the investigators.
The boy explained his actions as "overwhelming anger," not thinking about the consequences. The incident occurred on his birthday, a few hours after a family celebration.
The child, adopted in 2018, is currently in the custody of the Perry County police. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 22.
