First Details Emerge About "Voltron: Defender of the Universe" Adaptation Starring Henry Cavill
Filming wrapped up last year, but the creators have been reluctant to share details.
The film version of "Voltron: Defender of the Universe," based on the 1980s anime and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber ("Red Notice"), has been in post-production since the middle of last year. However, viewers have yet to see a single frame from the film.
Now, Feature First has shared the first details of the project, revealing key elements of the plot and clarifying the cast.
The story will begin with a tragedy. After the death of his mother, a teenager from Earth learns that she was one of the legendary Voltron pilots who defended the galaxy from the tyrant Zarkon. When the antagonist breaks free again, the young man has to take her place and stand up for the defense of the world.
Among the actors involved in the film are Daniel Quinn-Toye, Rita Ora, Alba Baptista, Samson Kayo, Laura Gordon, Tim Griffin, and Nathan Jones. Henry Cavill will play King Altea, the father of the deceased girl and creator of the Voltron lions, while Sterling Brown will embody the image of the main antagonist.
The premiere of the film "Voltron: Defender of the Universe" will take place exclusively on Prime Video in 2026. The exact release date has not yet been announced.
