Amazon seems to have missed the chance to launch the first feature film in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Tim Miller, director of "Deadpool" and producer of the Prime Video series "Secret Level," said that he offered to turn the fan project "Astartes" into an hour-long animated film, but the studio showed no interest in the idea.

In an interview for the VFX Artists React show, Miller admitted that he immediately saw the potential of Sьяma Pedersen's "Astartes". First, he contacted the author, and then came to Amazon with a proposal to "make a 60-minute version with him as the director," but, according to him, this idea did not generate much enthusiasm.

Miller also clarified that the project would require approval from Games Workshop in any case, since "when you start making money on someone else's intellectual property, things get very confusing very quickly."

As a result, Sьяma Pedersen only got the position of production designer on the "Secret Level" episode dedicated to Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, and the feature film was never put into production. At the same time, Pedersen himself is already working on "Astartes 2" — now officially and in collaboration with Games Workshop.

Meanwhile, Amazon still has a large-scale Warhammer 40,000 project in development with Henry Cavill, which should mark the beginning of an entire cinematic universe. However, there are still no details about it — it is only known that the project is still "alive."
