YouTube is preparing a revolution: create games with a single text prompt
YouTube enters 2026 with the goal of supporting creativity, not replacing it. In his annual letter, CEO Neal Mohan highlighted four key areas of platform development, where artificial intelligence is becoming the main focus.
The most futuristic announcement was the ability to "generate a playable game with a simple text prompt" in Shorts. Mohan emphasized:
AI will remain a tool for self-expression, like a synthesizer or Photoshop, and not a replacement for humans.
The platform will also combat low-quality content from bots by improving recommendation algorithms.
Priority remains on TV viewing — the fastest-growing screen for YouTube. The app will get a redesign and a fully customizable multi-screen mode for simultaneous viewing of multiple broadcasts.
Shorts continue to gain popularity: already 200 billion views per day. YouTube will add new post formats and improve monetization tools, including purchases without leaving the app. 2026 will be the year when creators can compete with Hollywood, even creating movies using AI and their own appearance.
